2018 Teddy Bear Ball
The Grand Blanc Chamber will host their Seventh Teddy Bear Ball Fundraiser event with live music, food, fun, and a dancing competition to benefit the Teddy Bear Patrol in Genesee County. This event will be held May 4th at Genesys Banquet Center in Grand Blanc with doors opening at 6:00 pm.
Sold out the last five years, this event raises money to provide Teddy Bears to all law enforcement, and first responders in Genesee County as well as Hurley Pediatrics, Weiss Advocacy, and Whaley Children's Center.Teddy bears are given to comfort children when they need it most, during traumatic experiences such as a lost child, home fire, home invasion, traffic accidents and domestic situations. Sponsorships are still available. Contact the Chamber at 695-4222 to find out more.
These bears are made in Flint by the ladies at St. Luke's N.E.W. (North End Women) Life Center on Lawndale in the heart of the city of Flint.
This organization is run by Sister Judy and Sister Carol, who help women complete their education and learn a skill so they can return to the workplace. One of those skills is sewing and the ladies earn an income from sewing items such as hospital gowns and scrubs that are sold to local Genesee County Hospitals. Now they are working on teddy bears to create a bear that is American made, Michigan made, and Flint made. These bears will be available for sale the night of the Teddy Bear Ball.
