Teddy Bear Ball
Event Sponsors
Grand Blanc Chamber will host their Sixth “Teddy Bear Ball” FUNdraiser event with live music food, fun, & a dancing competition to benefit the Teddy Bear Patrol in Genesee County. On Friday, May 4th , 2018 the FUNdraiser will be held at the Genesys Banquet Center in Grand Blanc with doors opening at 6:00 pm.
This event which has sold out the last four years, raises money to provide Teddy Bears to all law enforcement, and first responders in Genesee County as well as Hurley Pediatrics, Genesys Emergency Room, and Whaley Children’s Center.Local law enforcement and fire departments use teddy bears to comfort children when they need it most…. during traumatic experiences such as a lost child, home fire, home invasion, traffic accidents and domestic situations. Contact the Chamber to find out more about sponsorships and how to support this event.
The Teddy Bears they will be buying for the Teddy Bear Patrol will be made in Flint by the ladies at St. Luke’s N.E.W. (North End Women) Life Center on Lawndale in the heart of the city of Flint.
This organization is run by Sister Judy and Sister Carol, who help women complete their education and learn a skill so they can return to the workplace. One of those skills is sewing and the ladies earn an income from sewing items such as hospital gowns and scrubs that are sold to local Genesee County Hospitals. Now they are working on teddy bears to create a bear that are American made, Michigan made, and Flint made. These bears will be available for sale the night of the Teddy Bear Ball.
