Tarnesa currently holds the position of Patient Resource & Community Advocate for Hurley Medical Center and serves as a lead Public Health Nurse for Michigan United.
She is passionate about the well-being of the community and serves on the following boards, councils, and committees. YWCA Greater Flint, (CHRB) Community Housing Resource Board, (NAMI) National Alliance for Mental Health, Genesee County Suicide Prevention Coalition, Mothers of Joy institute for Parenting and Family Wellness (FGLN), MEOW, Is This Menopause or what? (FGLN) Flint Genesee Literacy Network, (MHA) Michigan Hospital Association Person & Family Engagement Advisory Council. Tarnesa is the chair of Hurley Medical Center Community Advisory Council.
She is a member of The Flint Women’s Forum and Junior League of Flint and a (CVL) Community Volunteer Lead for American Red Cross. In addition, she serves on the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Council for Hurley Medical Center & American Red Cross.
Tarnesa is grateful and honored to serve her community with humbleness and educational passion that empowers people to activate their health care power and embrace their personal development journey that leads them to becoming a better version of themselves. She was the recipient of the 2022 Community Champion Award presented by Total Life Community Development Corporation, My City Magazine (Nurse) - 2022 Wellness Awards. She was interviewed by America’s Essential Hospital who highlighted her work as Hurley Medical Center’s Patient Resource and Community Advocate. She recently received an invitation from The National Minority Quality Forum to speak at the White House debriefing on Cancer in minority communities.
